MCW is a public, educational, community oriented, family friendly weekend scheduled in conjunction with American Craft Week, a nationwide event promoting craft events each October. MCW is an opportunity for the public to explore the life and work of craft artists and craft brewers in Maine.
Waterville participates in Maine Craft Weekend (MCW), a statewide tour of Maine craft studios, breweries, businesses and events. Hosted by the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce, The Taste of Waterville is an annual event held on Main Street and The Concourse in downtown Waterville and is attended by thousands of people. Attendees find an amazing selection of fabulous food, live entertainment, children’s amusements and much more! The Atlantic Music Festival returns each year to Colby College for numerous public performances over the course of several weeks. During the event, hundreds of talented, emerging artists gather in Waterville to celebrate the work of musical masters. The Festival offers all of its concerts completely free of charge as a gift to the community. The festival offers a friendly and intimate setting for visitors and guests, and affords an opportunity for audiences to interact closely with filmmakers and VIPs. The festival presents an eclectic selection of feature-length dramas, documentaries, shorts, and films for children, showing nearly 100 films every summer and bringing state, regional, and international visitors to Waterville. The festival usually runs in the third week of July at Railroad Square Cinema and the Waterville Opera House, with occasional satellite venues. The Waterville VFW annually hosts and coordinates the Memorial Day Parade and Veterans’ Day Parade on the date these holidays are observed each year. (Memorial Day is observed every year on the last Monday of May Veterans’ Day is observed annually on November 11.)
